Getting Around

The free Hirafu-Hanazono shuttle bus is essential for moving between ski areas. For trips to Kutchan, use the local Donan Bus (pay in cash). Taxis are available but expensive. Most travel within Hirafu Village is easily done on foot. In winter, renting a car is possible but not necessary for this itinerary and requires confidence in snowy conditions.

Book Ahead

Ski/snowboard rentals, multi-day lift passes (for discounts), and popular restaurant reservations ( for fine dining) should be booked weeks in advance during peak season. Also book airport transfers (bus or private car).

Packing Essentials

High-quality thermal base layers, waterproof ski jacket/pants, gloves, neck gaiter, goggles, sunscreen (high SPF), swimsuit for onsen, and comfortable waterproof boots for walking in the village.

Total Budget

$770-920 (excluding international flights and ski pass/rental costs)
